We are all for reduced consumption. Buying and selling items \u2018second hand\u2019 is a great way to cyclically do this and reduce your carbon footprint. Selling items you no longer need can be a great way to fundraise. eBay<\/a> for example allows you to raise money for Population Matters . Trade in sites enable you to trade in CDs, DVDs, games and tech for cash you can then donate. A more low-tech solution may be to hold a market stall or car boot sale and donate funds raised. <\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Marc Braddock<\/h3>

Throughout October 2025, Marc walked the Camino de Santiago trail in Northern Spain. Marc’s fundraiser, ‘WalkMyTalk’, is a result of chatting with his daughters and a personal challenge to spread awareness while raising funds. In Marc’s words: “Population Matters aims to address the real problem that lies beneath so many of the symptoms of our unsustainable ever expanding global human population”. Marc raised over \u00a3650 for PM and you can add your sponsorship here<\/a>.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Lili Edmunds<\/h3>

On Sunday 28th September 2025 Lili ran the Vitality London 10k for Population Matters raising an amazing \u00a3410 which was DOUBLE her original fundraising target. Over to Lili: “Population Matters projects and campaigns strongly resonate with me. I am encouraged by their vision for a fair and sustainable world, tackling the causes and effects of human population growth and its impact in the natural world”. We wish Lili all the best for her September fundraiser.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n

alice morley<\/h3>

Alice undertook a 10k run for Population Matters<\/a> running through Roundhay Park in Leeds, UK, on Sunday 21st April 2024. Alice fundraised for us because “Population Matters does great work across the world in advocating for gender equality and women\u2019s rights, and encourages practical, voluntary steps to reduce our consumption and environmental footprint”. With your help sponsoring her run<\/a> Alice exceeded her fundraising target.<\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n

john Waldron<\/h3>

John undertook a family fell walk with his daughters in May 2023. John says, “having lived most of my life feeling like a voice in the wilderness, I was delighted to join Population Matters several years ago. P.M.’s publicity, campaigning and practical support for the huge sustainability issues around family size will, I believe, help achieve not only informed decisions by prospective parents but also encourage governments to consider more support for the practicalities of family planning.”. <\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Michael Walker<\/h3>

Michael ran Two Tunnels Marathon (Bath, UK) followed by the Chippenham half marathon over spring and summer 2023. He chose to fundraise for Population Matters to help achieve a sustainable human population to allow for a future for his grandchildren. <\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Dom Scruton<\/h3>

Dom ran the Rob Burrow Leeds (UK) Marathon for Population Matters on 14th<\/sup> May 2023. Dom says \u201cI strongly believe the question of our coexistence with the natural world is not only one of sustainability but of moral duty and respect\u201d. <\/p><\/div>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019ve finished my fundraising, now what?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Your funds will automatically transfer to us after you close your fundraiser if you\u2019ve used one of the online platforms listed above.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019ve received cash gifts direct, we recommend you pay the donations into your own account and then make a one-off donation online here<\/a>. Alternatively you can send us a cheque<\/a> for the amount you\u2019ve raised, noting your name and the detail of your fundraiser on the back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
